Celebrating 10 years of Encompass in Glasgow

This November we celebrated a milestone moment for Encompass, ten incredible years in Glasgow.

What began as our second office, following our founding in Australia, has grown into a cornerstone of our global operations. More importantly, a thriving center of excellence for innovation, technology, and talent.

Why Glasgow?

When we established our Glasgow base in 2015, the decision was strategic. Scotland was fast emerging as a growing FinTech hub, rich in innovation, collaboration, and community. Glasgow stood out for its world-class universities, skilled workforce, and forward-thinking business environment. It was the ideal location to expand our vision, bringing together technology, people, and purpose to redefine what’s possible in regulatory and financial technology.

Today, our Glasgow office serves as the main hub for our software development team. Driving the innovation behind our global product suite and delivering value to some of the world’s largest financial institutions. Over the past ten years, we’ve employed more than 150 people in Scotland, a third of our global workforce. In addition, we have proudly contributed over £33 million to the Scottish economy through salaries and supplier partnerships.

Innovation and global impact

Encompass has grown into a global leader in Corporate Digital Identity (CDI). A platform recognized for transforming how banks and regulated institutions manage Know Your Customer (KYC), onboarding, and financial crime risk. CDI combines public and private data into a single, real-time, structured identity. Offering a unified and verified view of every corporate client across divisions and geographies.

This capability not only enhances compliance and efficiency but also delivers transparency through clear data lineage and audit trails, reassuring both customers and regulators.

Recent recognition, including awards and Tier one banking partnerships, reflects our continued commitment to solving the industry’s most pressing challenges. Our focus remains on innovation that empowers institutions to achieve faster onboarding, deeper insight, and stronger risk management. All the while freeing skilled employees to focus on complex, high-value work.

We were joined by key partners on the night, including Vida Rudkin from Morgan Stanley, who also serves on the Scottish Financial Enterprise Board. Vida spoke about the strength of Scotland’s financial ecosystem. The event also featured discussion of industry collaboration, with companies such as Encompass playing an important role in driving productivity and innovation.

Investing in Scotland’s future talent

From the very beginning, we’ve believed in investing in local talent as a key driver of growth. Not only for Encompass, but also for Scotland’s economy. Many of our team members bring invaluable experience from world-class organizations such as Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Shell, Skyscanner, PwC, and Tesco. Enriching our expertise and strengthening our position as an employer of choice in the Scottish FinTech community.

Our graduate, apprenticeship, and intern programs have been instrumental in developing future talent. Through partnerships with Career Ready, we have provided intern opportunities that have inspired young people to pursue careers in technology. With many progressing to permanent roles in the sector. We’ve also seen graduates rise through the ranks within Encompass or go on to senior positions with leading brands such as RBS and Scottish Power.

Developing future talent isn’t just part of our growth strategy, it’s central to our values. It brings fresh perspectives, drives innovation, and contributes to Scotland’s long-term economic sustainability. This was referenced within the opening remarks from Nicola Anderson, CEO of FinTech Scotland, at our recent anniversary event: “It’s been amazing to see Encompass step in as an important partner, leading the way, showing innovation, getting involved, and indeed working with some of the larger financial institutions to chart a course for new paths for the future”.

Partnerships and community commitment

Our success in Glasgow has been strengthened by partnerships with organizations that share our passion for progress. Including FinTech Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, ScotlandIS, Glasgow Economic Leadership, and many more. From early investment by SNIB in 2016 and £1.9m of funding from Scottish Enterprise in 2020, to collaboration across the local FinTech ecosystem, Scotland’s support has been pivotal to our journey.

But our growth has not been confined to Scotland alone. With offices and partnerships in key financial centres such as New York, London, and across Europe, Encompass has supported UK trade and helped showcase British RegTech innovation on the global stage. Participation in Department for International Trade (DIT) RegTech missions and international collaborations has enabled us to share expertise, strengthen cross-border relationships, and expand our impact beyond local markets. Every global office has played a role in scaling our business. Contributing to product development, client success, and the strategic expansion that has made Encompass a recognized leader in CDI and intelligent compliance solutions worldwide.

A decade of growth and what is next

As we reflect on the past ten years, we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved. Not just as a company, but as part of Scotland’s thriving fintech ecosystem. Our Glasgow office has evolved into a center of excellence for technology, innovation, and collaboration. Supporting Encompass’s global mission to empower organizations to establish and manage the identity of their corporate clients, unlocking business growth and preventing financial crime.
